I recently R2ied
from California to
Bangalore. I used
Universal
Relocations for
shipping and used
LCL load of 350
Cu.ft. We packed
all the small boxes
ourselves. Folks at
Universal were very
prompt and
professional in
every aspects of
shipping. They told
me in advance when
they will come to
pick up, could
accommodate my last
minute requests and
when my stuff will
be loaded from
warehouse on to
ship. Ship started
from US on time
around June 5th and
it was suppose to
reach by end of June
but delayed by two
weeks till July
15th. My customs
clearance was done
in Chennai and I
sent my original
passport to their
local office via
courier. They
finished customs and
customs charged
around Rs. 15000 as
duty. I did bring
two desktops, TV,
Home Theater etc so
not surprised to be
charged that amount.
Customs clearance
was done in two days
and next day they
shipped my goods to
Bangalore. They did
a good job of
bringing my stuff to
second floor,
unpacked all the big
items and removed
the pile of packing
paper.
Universal
Relocations might be
little expensive
than others ( I took
quote from

around 350 Cu Ft.
The service was
excellent, and all
35 peices were
delivered intact. I
had no problems with
the service, they
unpacked and
assembled some of my
furniture too and I
was set. I had to
relocate at short
notice, and the
shipping of stuff
was thankfully taken
care of very well,
and i never felt any
issues on that
front. Both the
people in New Jersey
(Adarsh Dattani) and
Chennai (Saravanan)
were very
professional and
courteous. The
entire process took
me about 2 months,
with around 1.5
months in actually
shipping time. The
guys who came to
pack the furniture
did a very
professional job and
were very fast. My
wife has no
complaints so that
says a lot!! I would
recommend their
services anytime!

Milpitas, CA to
Bangalore and had
used Universal
relocation for
shipping. I had
taken a 20 ft
container. It was
shipped from
Oakland, CA on Dec
24th,2008 and it
reached me at
Bangalore on Feb
4th,2009. The
packers and movers
at the origin and
destination were
very good, courteous
and knew their
things well. There
was no damage to the
goods and all of it
arrived in very good
condition. I did not
have to worry about
the customs as
Universal took care
of it at Chennai. I
would definitely
recommend Universal
for shipping
services.

I want to post my
shipping experience
with Universal. We
shipped with
Universal twice last
year. First we moved
from Sacramento to
Bangalore in June
and then returned
back to the US
(Fremont) from
Bangalore just one
month back (yes gave
up too early so R2I
and R2A). What we
took from here is
pretty much what we
brought back. Volume
was LCL 200 CFT on
both occasions. We
took catastrophic
insurance both
times. Our goods
arrived on time and
in good condition.
Reason why we
shipped the first
time (Sacramento to
Bangalore) were as
follows: Clear,
straight forward
replies to my
queries, time taken
to answer all my
questions, good
feedback from
friends who shipped
through them.
Reason why we picked
them again for
return shipment
(Bangalore to
Fremont): They
delivered our items
and delivered on
their promises,
level of comfort, we
knew from experience
that there will be
no surprise charges,
and great overall
door-2-door service.
I will certainly
recommend Universal
for your shipping
needs. A very good
company with good
management and
policies. They feel
the pain so makes
the one part of
whole R2I or R2A
very easy. Hence I
felt I at least owe
them this to put the
positive feedback
here.

(CA) to Bangalore.
The move was done
through Universal
Relocations. The
overall service was
pretty good.
Here are the various
parameters on how i
would rate them:
1. Service - Quite
efficient and
predictable and on
time. The
boxes/goods arrived
in good condition.
2. Cost - I believe
they are competitive
but frankly cannot
comment as i did not
do much research on
other options.
3. Experience with
customs - Since
Chennai was POE,
they have good
relations with the
customs and as a
result did not need
to be present in
person - just had to
send PP.
I would recommend
them without any
hesitation.

okay... all the 41
boxes intact.
I would use
Universal Relo again
if needed. For us,
status of our
shipment was
important so for
everyone. Universal
sends email
notification about
shipment and if
needed someone from
univ.relo call you.
My cousin
experienced the
worst where the
"XXX" company did
not respond after
receiveing the check
and I will post my
cousin's experience
separately to help
future R2I'ers. Univ
Relo privudes the
quality of service,
peace of mind, and
the communication
and total package is
worth every penny.
Moreover, they will
get the best price
for custom
clearance.
